The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) is now accepting applications for its scholarship program for the school year 2025-2026. A total of 26 scholarships are available for qualified students pursuing four-year agriculture courses.
The scholarship program targets a growing concern: the aging agricultural workforce. With the average farmer reaching 53 years old, BFAR-CAR is looking to invest in the next generation of agricultural leaders.
Scholarship details and benefits
There are three scholarship tracks offered:
- Fisheries Scholarship Program (20 slots): Open to children of registered fisherfolk
- Fisheries Industry Leader Grant (3 slots): Awarded to top 10 high school graduates
- Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples Grant (3 slots): For academically deserving students from indigenous communities
Those who qualify will receive full scholarship coverage for their four-year degree program. This includes tuition and fees (excluding dormitory fees), a monthly stipend of ₱5,000, a ₱2,000 semester book allowance, and additional support for on-the-job training, thesis development, graduation, and clothing.
Application process and important dates
