The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) sets sail on a new course under President Jay Yuvallos.

His leadership agenda prioritizes revamping Cebu’s image as a prime business destination and fostering a more collaborative and innovative business environment.

Yuvallos, a seasoned businessman with experience leading Cebu’s furniture industry, is determined to “change mindsets here, changing mindsets there,” as he puts it.

He believes Cebu has the potential to become a true “business paradise,” attracting investment and driving economic growth, he told RMA News.

The centerpiece of the new agenda is the “LEAD” program, with each letter representing a key initiative:

  • Launch the Invest Cebu Brand (Prosper in Paradise): This initiative aims to create a strong and positive brand identity for Cebu, promoting it as an attractive destination for businesses.
  • Engage the Whole Community in a Deeper Level (Inclusive Development): Yuvallos emphasizes the importance of including all sectors of the community in Cebu’s economic growth. This means collaborating with businesses of all sizes, the government, and local residents.
  • Active Partnerships (Everyone Celebrates in Cebu): Building strong partnerships is a key element of Yuvallos’ vision. He believes collaboration between the chamber, other business organizations, and the government is essential for success.
  • Develop an Innovative and Creative Culture (In Trade, Industry/Manufacturing Service, IT-BPM, Sectoral): Encouraging innovation and creativity across all sectors of Cebu’s economy is a core focus. This includes supporting startups, developing new technologies, and fostering a culture of entrepreneurship.

Yuvallos acknowledges the challenges ahead but is confident in his ability to lead the chamber towards a brighter future. He plans to leverage his extensive experience and network to build partnerships and drive change.

The chamber will also continue to organize educational seminars and workshops to support businesses.

Cebu’s business community is watching closely to see if Yuvallos’ ambitious agenda can be translated into concrete results.

The success of his leadership will depend on his ability to unite stakeholders, promote innovation, and create a more vibrant and competitive business environment in Cebu.Ⓒ
