The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) is now accepting applications from businesses seeking to utilize the ATA Carnet system, effective July 15.

The ATA Carnet, also known as the “passport for goods,” is an international customs document that simplifies procedures for temporary imports and exports. It allows businesses to bring goods into participating countries for up to one year without paying duties or taxes, as long as the goods are re-exported within the timeframe.

“We are delighted to partner with the Bureau of Customs to launch the ATA Carnet system,” said PCCI President Consul Enunina V. Mangio. “This initiative demonstrates our commitment to promoting a business-friendly environment and economic growth.”

It also  represents the culmination of years of advocacy by PCCI to bring this valuable tool to Filipino businesses. The ATA Carnet system will significantly reduce trade barriers for exporters, particularly MSMEs, who play a crucial role in the Philippine economy.

Benefits for businesses:

  • Streamlined customs procedures
  • Reduced costs through duty and tax exemptions
  • Easier temporary cross-border trade

Who can use the ATA Carnet?

  • Exporters
  • Industry Associations
  • Chambers of Commerce
  • Sports Associations
  • Film and Entertainment Organizers

Boosting PH trade

The ATA Carnet system is expected to significantly boost Philippine trade competitiveness by facilitating the movement of goods. With streamlined customs procedures and reduced costs, Filipino businesses, particularly SMEs, will have a greater opportunity to showcase their products and services on the global stage. This, in turn, can lead to increased export sales, foreign investment, and ultimately, contribute to the growth of the Philippine economy.
